Lahore: Following directives from the Ministry of Energy, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has imposed a ban on the installation of Solar Green Meters for its consumers.

According to LESCO officials, thousands of consumers will be affected and will not be able to install these meters. While NEPRA had previously directed the installation of Solar Green Meters, the Ministry of Energy has now issued a temporary halt.

Officials stated that they are bound to follow the ministry’s orders, and the ban on Solar Green Meter installations may remain in place for one to two months.

Both residential and industrial consumers are now prohibited from installing new Solar Green Meters. The meters will only be installed once a new policy for solar meters is introduced. Other distribution companies have also suspended solar connections in compliance with the directive.
