FIA Officers to Catch Rats and Inspect Sewerage System at Karachi Airport

An FIA officer has been appointed as in charge of sewerage (cleaning of washrooms) and rat-catching duties at Karachi Airport.

The officer will also be required to submit a signed cleanliness report to the Deputy Director every hour. This highly surprising order has been issued by Deputy Director Immigration Shahzad Akbar.

According to details, Karachi Director Muntazar Mehdi deployed Assistant Sub-Inspector Munawar Mehdi at Karachi Airport. The Deputy Director introduced a new position and appointed him as an Admin In-charge.

His duties include supervising the cleanliness of the sewerage system, meaning all washrooms within the immigration area, and submitting a signed report every hour.

His responsibilities also include identifying the routes through which rats carry out “sabotage” in the immigration area and the Deputy Director’s office, including which washrooms and sewerage lines they use for movement.

This order has caused severe unrest and frustration among FIA officers. Officers who are already facing ambiguous verbal offloading orders and departmental actions are viewing this unprofessional directive as a further humiliation.
