Gold Prices Register Slight Decline Across Pakistan

KARACHI: Gold prices recorded a marginal decrease in Pakistan on Saturday, reflecting a slight decline in international bullion markets, according to the latest figures released by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA).

The association reported that the price of 24-karat gold per tola fell by Rs43, bringing the new rate to Rs437,993 per tola. Although the reduction is relatively small, it marks a continuation of the fluctuations that have characterized the gold market in recent weeks.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold declined by Rs39, settling at Rs374,166. The adjustment follows changes in global gold prices, which often influence local market rates after accounting for currency exchange movements and domestic demand.

According to market analysts, gold prices in Pakistan are closely linked to developments in the international bullion market. Any increase or decrease in global prices is typically reflected in local rates, though the extent of the impact may vary depending on exchange rates and market conditions.

On the international front, gold prices also witnessed a modest decline. The price of the precious metal in the global market fell by 43 cents per ounce, bringing it to $4,155.50 per ounce.

Experts say that gold continues to attract investors worldwide as a traditional safe-haven asset, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and volatility in financial markets. However, even safe-haven assets experience daily price fluctuations due to changing investor sentiment, interest rate expectations, and movements in the US dollar.

Jewellers and bullion traders in Pakistan noted that local demand for gold remains steady, especially among consumers purchasing jewellery for weddings, celebrations, and investment purposes. However, the historically high price levels have caused some buyers to adopt a cautious approach, leading to reduced purchasing volumes compared to previous years.

Market observers believe that future gold price movements will largely depend on international economic indicators, central bank policies, inflation trends, and developments in global financial markets. Any significant shift in these factors could influence both international and domestic bullion prices.

Despite the minor decline recorded today, gold remains near historically elevated levels, underscoring its enduring appeal as a store of value. Investors and traders are expected to continue monitoring global market trends closely for indications of the metal’s future direction.

With gold prices remaining above Rs437,000 per tola, the precious metal continues to represent a significant investment asset in Pakistan, even as daily fluctuations bring occasional gains and losses for traders and consumers alike.
