Sukkur: Residents and social circles have expressed concern over the alleged open operation of gambling and betting activities in different areas of Sukkur, claiming that such activities continue due to police inaction.

According to reports, alleged gambling, betting slips (“Aakra Parchi”), and other illegal gaming activities are reportedly taking place in the jurisdictions of A-Section, B-Section, New Pind, and C-Section police stations, including areas such as Jannat Building, Numaish No. 5, Bhoosa Lane, Micro Colony, and nearby localities.

Locals allege that many young people have lost their savings due to gambling, while even underage children are reportedly becoming involved in such social evils. They fear that the continued spread of these activities could contribute to an increase in crime and law and order problems in the city.

Citizens, along with political and social representatives, have appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Federal Interior Minister, the Inspector General of Sindh Police, the DIG Sukkur, SSP Sukkur, ASP Sukkur, and other relevant authorities to take notice of the matter and ensure strict action against illegal gambling and betting activities in the city.
