Beijing — China has conveyed deep sorrow and sympathy over the widespread destruction and loss of life caused by the recent floods in Pakistan, reaffirming its solidarity with the Pakistani people during this humanitarian crisis.

In a statement, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Beijing extends heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and expressed sympathy to the injured. The ministry voiced confidence that Pakistan will overcome this calamity and move swiftly towards recovery and reconstruction.

Diplomatic Condolences

According to the spokesperson, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi personally conveyed his condolences to his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, underscoring the close friendship and mutual support between the two countries in times of adversity.

The spokesperson further noted that the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad is closely monitoring the welfare of Chinese nationals residing in Pakistan. So far, there have been no reports of any Chinese citizens injured or killed due to the floods.

Human Toll in Pakistan

Pakistan is currently grappling with one of the most destructive monsoon seasons in recent years. Torrential rains, landslides, and flash floods since June 26 have claimed 657 lives nationwide, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The disaster has left hundreds more injured, displaced thousands, and caused severe damage to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land.

Solidarity Amid Crisis

China’s message of condolence reflects the enduring strategic partnership and “iron brotherhood” between the two nations. Officials in Beijing emphasized that China will continue to stand by Pakistan and extend necessary support in relief and rehabilitation efforts.
