Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly dismissed all rumors suggesting that President Asif Ali Zardari would resign or that Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir intends to become President, terming such reports as baseless and purely speculative.

Speaking to The News, the Prime Minister clearly stated that Field Marshal Asim Munir has never expressed any desire to become President, nor is any such proposal under consideration. He emphasized that the relationship among President Asif Ali Zardari, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and himself is based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.

PM Shehbaz Sharif assured that there is no truth to the circulating media reports regarding President Zardari’s resignation.

This clarification comes at a time when Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a statement on official X (formerly Twitter), calling the campaign against President Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Army Chief a “coordinated conspiracy” and strongly condemned it.

Mohsin Naqvi, considered close to the military leadership, said, “We know very well who is behind this organized campaign.” He clarified that there has been no discussion nor any intent regarding the President’s resignation or the Army Chief becoming President.Tools
