Karachi (Monday, June 23, 2025): Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon has raised the question that if Karachi is not a livable city, then why are people from all over the country moving here?
Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, Sharjeel Memon said that a few days ago, there was a hue and cry over a report that claimed Karachi was not fit for living. “If that’s true,” he asked, “then why are thousands of people coming here from every corner of the country?”
He also questioned, “If Karachi is not livable, then why don’t people go to Lahore, Islamabad, or Peshawar instead?”
He acknowledged that there are problems in Karachi but emphasized that, despite everything, 30 million people are still getting water in one way or another, the city is being cleaned, garbage is being collected, and people are going to their jobs and businesses.
