Bird Strike Damages Engine of Skardu-Bound Private Airline Flight During Takeoff
KARACHI: A private airline flight bound for Skardu suffered a bird strike during takeoff from Karachi, causing significant damage to one of the aircraft’s engines.
According to an airline spokesperson, Flight PK-455, carrying 170 passengers, was taking off when it collided with a bird.
The impact caused severe damage to the aircraft’s No. 2 engine, with several engine blades reportedly breaking as a result of the strike.
Following the incident, the aircraft did not continue its scheduled journey, and all passengers were safely transferred to the airport lounge.
The airline spokesperson said maintenance teams had begun repair work on the Airbus A320 aircraft.
No injuries among passengers or crew were reported. The airline has not yet announced when the flight will resume or whether an alternative aircraft will be arranged for the passengers.
