Islamabad (Wednesday, July 16, 2025) – Following the recent hike in petroleum prices by the government, the Pakistan Goods Transporters have increased freight charges by 20%.

President of the Pakistan Goods Transport Association, Nabeel Mehmood Tariq, stated that the fare from Lahore to Karachi has been raised from PKR 100,000 to PKR 120,000. Similarly, the fare from Lahore to Peshawar has increased from PKR 80,000 to PKR 96,000.

Additionally, the fare from Lahore to Rawalpindi has gone up from PKR 60,000 to PKR 72,000, while the Lahore to Quetta route now costs PKR 144,000, up from PKR 120,000.

The fare from Karachi to Lahore has risen from PKR 300,000 to PKR 350,000, and the Karachi to Peshawar route has increased from PKR 450,000 to PKR 550,000. Karachi to Rawalpindi now costs PKR 500,000, up from PKR 400,000.

According to the Association’s president, this is the third consecutive increase in diesel prices, forcing transporters to raise fares. He added that the construction of new toll plazas on highways has further escalated operating expenses.
