KARACHI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) conducted raid at a call centre in Karachi involved in fraudulent practices.

The NCCIA said that seven accused including owners have been arrested in a raid on the call centre in Kosar Town, Malir.

The arrested suspects identified as Bilal Raza, Abdullah, Shoaib Rahim, Umar Saeed, Junaid Khan, Najam and Hassan Mukhtar.

The suspects impersonating as officials of foreign banks, were used to contact foreign nationals and convincing them to provide sensitive personal information.

They were also used to get details of the victims’ debit cards and credit cards’ details.

The agency officials also taken various laptops and mobile phones in custody.

Officials said that the proceedings have been underway for identification and arrest of other accused of the network.

Earlier, the NCCIA conducted raid at a call centre located in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar allegedly involved in an online fraud network targeting foreign nationals.

NCCIA officials said that the two partners of the call centre Muhammad Laiq and Muhammad Fazil arrested in the raid. “Scores of suspected agents have also been detained”.
