Pakistan’s military leadership and the armed forces on Saturday paid tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his 68th martyrdom anniversary, recalling his bravery, devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice for the country.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu joined the armed forces in commemorating the anniversary.

The ISPR said Major Tufail Muhammad displayed extraordinary courage and resolve while leading his troops in a daring assault against enemy forces.

Despite sustaining critical wounds, he continued fighting with determination and ensured the successful completion of his mission, the statement said.

His gallantry and sacrifice earned him the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military award for valour.

The armed forces and the people of Pakistan also paid tribute to all martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the country.

The ISPR said the courage and patriotism of the martyrs continued to inspire future generations and remained a symbol of sacrifice for defenders of the nation.
