Tandojam Rural Health Center Holds Monthly Meeting: Administrator Highlights 200 Cesarean Operations and 2,000 Daily OPD Patients

Hyderabad (By: Mehboob Hussain Bozdar, Bureau Sindh) – The monthly constitutional meeting of the Tandojam Rural Health Center was recently held under the chairmanship of Administrator Mr. Zafar Dharejo. The session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, a spiritual opening that set the tone for the gathering. The recitation was carried out by senior journalist Mehboob Hussain Bozdar, who was invited as a special guest.

The meeting was attended by various dignitaries and stakeholders including Nawab Nadeem, Nouman Rao, journalist Ejaz Memon, and several other prominent participants. The agenda of the gathering was focused on reviewing the hospital’s performance, healthcare facilities, and ongoing improvements for patients who depend on this crucial rural health center.

In his opening remarks, Administrator Zafar Dharejo expressed satisfaction over the hospital’s performance and highlighted several achievements made during the past month. He revealed that the hospital had successfully conducted approximately 200 cesarean (C-section) operations over the course of the month. This figure demonstrates not only the volume of patients served but also the competence of the hospital’s medical team in handling critical maternity cases. He added that such efforts are helping to reduce maternal and child mortality rates in the region, which has long been a concern in rural Sindh.

Furthermore, Mr. Dharejo emphasized that the Tandojam Rural Health Center’s Out-Patient Department (OPD) continues to treat nearly 2,000 patients every single day. This overwhelming number reflects the hospital’s role as a lifeline for the local population. Patients from Tandojam and neighboring rural areas rely heavily on the OPD for treatment of common illnesses, chronic diseases, and emergency care. He acknowledged that the increasing patient load is a challenge, but insisted that the staff remains dedicated to providing effective care despite limited resources.

During the meeting, the administrator also pointed out that the hospital is constantly working to upgrade its facilities. He highlighted that diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, and maternity wards are being improved to ensure quality healthcare. According to him, timely surgeries and patient care protocols have already started showing a positive impact. The hospital is also focusing on preventive healthcare by spreading awareness about hygiene, maternal care, and vaccination programs.

Mr. Dharejo praised the doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff for their relentless service. He mentioned that despite facing resource constraints and an ever-growing patient burden, the staff continues to treat patients with dedication and compassion. “We are committed to ensuring that no patient leaves the hospital without receiving proper attention and treatment,” he said.

The meeting also shed light on the community’s increasing trust in the Rural Health Center. Local residents, who once had to travel to bigger cities like Hyderabad or Karachi for complex treatments, are now beginning to rely on the Tandojam facility for surgeries, maternal care, and specialized treatments. This not only saves time and cost for poor families but also ensures faster medical response during emergencies.

One of the key issues discussed was the challenge of handling such a high volume of patients on a daily basis. With nearly 2,000 OPD patients, the hospital often struggles with space, medicine supply, and manpower shortages. Participants suggested that the government should allocate additional funds to strengthen the infrastructure. They also urged that more doctors and nursing staff be appointed to meet the growing demands.

The session concluded with an acknowledgment of the hospital’s achievements but also a reminder that rural healthcare in Sindh needs continuous improvement. Journalist Mehboob Hussain Bozdar, who inaugurated the meeting with Quran recitation, appreciated the efforts of the administration but stressed that media and civil society must continue to monitor and highlight healthcare challenges in rural areas.

Overall, the monthly meeting not only reviewed the progress made but also set new goals for the upcoming months. The administrator assured participants that the hospital will continue its mission of serving the underprivileged with dedication.

The Tandojam Rural Health Center, through its efforts, is gradually transforming into a beacon of healthcare for rural Sindh, showing that with proper management, commitment, and community support, even government hospitals can make a lasting difference in people’s lives.
