Tajpur Commemorates Arbaeen with Devotional Procession and Majlis under the Supervision of Bukhari Family

On the solemn occasion of Arbaeen, also known as Chehlum of Imam Hussain (A.S), the town of Tajpur in District Matiari witnessed a deeply moving and spiritually significant gathering. As part of the sacred journey of love and remembrance called Safar-e-Ishq-e-Arbaeen Mashi, the faithful marked the 19th of Safar with a special majlis (religious congregation) and a mourning procession that embodied the eternal message of Karbala.

The event was organized under the devoted supervision of Syed Amir Hussain Shah Bukhari, son of the respected Syed Bahar Shah Bukhari, along with his brothers. Their leadership ensured that the traditional practices of mourning and commemoration were upheld with reverence and sincerity. The gathering began at Masjid Ali, organized by Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen, from where a large group of mourners set out on foot in a procession leading to Qadamgah-e-Mola Ali, a place held sacred by the Shia community.

The mourners, dressed in black as a sign of grief, carried out rituals of noha khwani (recitation of elegies) and sina zani (chest-beating) along the way. Their chants of lamentation echoed through the streets of Tajpur, expressing sorrow over the tragedy of Karbala while also affirming their devotion to Imam Hussain (A.S) and his noble companions who sacrificed their lives for truth, justice, and faith.

Among the prominent figures who took part in the commemoration were Syed Khair Shah Bukhari, Dr. Syed Nawaz Ali Shah, Syed Mehr Shah Bukhari, Syed Jalal Shah Bukhari, and Syed Aal-e-Imran Shah Bukhari. Their presence not only added spiritual weight to the procession but also reflected the unity and leadership of the Bukhari family in preserving the traditions of Ahlulbayt (A.S). These personalities, long associated with religious and community leadership in Matiari, have consistently played an important role in organizing such events that connect the present generation with the eternal legacy of Karbala.

The mourners, who had come not only from Tajpur but also from surrounding villages and towns, participated in large numbers, turning the event into a massive gathering of faith and grief. Men, women, and children all took part, walking together in the spirit of devotion, reciting elegies, and remembering the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S). Their journey symbolized solidarity with the millions around the world who embark on Arbaeen walks towards Karbala in Iraq every year, reaffirming that the love of Hussain (A.S) knows no boundaries of geography.

As the procession reached Qadamgah-e-Mola Ali, the participants renewed their pledges of loyalty to the path of Imam Hussain (A.S). The atmosphere was filled with a mixture of grief and spiritual strength—the sorrow of remembering the tragedy of Karbala and the strength that comes from being connected to the timeless stand for truth.

At the conclusion of the mourning rituals, a heartfelt prayer (dua-e-khair) was led by Molana Syed Amir Hussain Shah Bukhari. In his supplication, he prayed for peace, unity, and the well-being of the community, as well as for the strength to uphold the teachings of Imam Hussain (A.S) in their daily lives. He emphasized that the lesson of Karbala is not confined to history but is a guiding principle for all who struggle against oppression and injustice in any age.

This year’s Arbaeen majlis and procession in Tajpur carried special significance as it reflected the growing devotion of younger generations alongside their elders. Young men joined in chest-beating and reciting nohas, while children observed with deep attention, learning the values of sacrifice, patience, and faith. Women too played an important role, attending the majlis and offering their prayers, ensuring that the memory of Karbala continues to resonate in every household.

The unity witnessed during the procession symbolized the true essence of Arbaeen. It was not merely a religious ritual, but a communal experience that brought together people from various walks of life. Farmers, students, doctors, shopkeepers—all stood shoulder to shoulder in mourning, reminding one another that the message of Imam Hussain (A.S) belongs to everyone and is relevant to all humanity.

Moreover, such processions in smaller towns like Tajpur demonstrate how the spirit of Karbala permeates not only large cities but also rural communities. Even in places far from global headlines, the message of Arbaeen is kept alive through collective remembrance, showing that the tragedy of Karbala has left an imprint on every heart, whether near or far.

The Bukhari family’s efforts in organizing the event were widely appreciated. Their dedication to ensuring that every detail—from the route of the procession to the arrangements for mourners—was properly managed, reflected their sense of responsibility as custodians of tradition. Their leadership also highlighted the importance of passing down organizational skills and religious commitment from one generation to another.

In a broader sense, the procession in Tajpur was part of the worldwide observances of Arbaeen, which has become the largest peaceful gathering on earth. While millions walk towards Karbala in Iraq, processions like this one in Tajpur connect local believers to the global community of mourners, making them part of the same spiritual journey. This universality of devotion underscores the timeless relevance of Imam Hussain’s (A.S) sacrifice.

In conclusion, the Arbaeen procession and majlis in Tajpur on 19th Safar was not just a local religious gathering but a powerful reaffirmation of faith, unity, and devotion. It brought together hundreds of mourners, honored the sacrifices of Karbala, and strengthened the bond between the community and the eternal message of Imam Hussain (A.S). The leadership of Syed Amir Hussain Shah Bukhari and his family ensured the success of the event, while the active participation of people from across the region demonstrated that the love for Hussain (A.S) continues to grow stronger with each passing year.

The mourners returned home with heavy hearts but also with renewed spirits, carrying with them the values of courage, patience, and resistance to injustice—the very values that Imam Hussain (A.S) stood for. Tajpur’s commemoration thus became a humble yet profound chapter in the ongoing global remembrance of Karbala.
