ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its commitment to continue full cooperation with Pakistan in view of the evolving regional situation and potential emergency requirements related to oil supply.

The assurance came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki in Islamabad. The two sides discussed the regional security environment and its possible impact on energy supplies.

Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that Saudi authorities have assured Pakistan of secure supply routes through the Red Sea port of Yanbu Port. He added that Saudi sources have also confirmed arrangements for a vessel to depart from Pakistan to Yanbu to lift crude oil cargo, ensuring continuity in supply chains.

The minister expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued support, particularly at a time when regional tensions pose challenges to energy logistics. He voiced hope that Pakistan would be given priority in oil supply shipments from Yanbu port if needed.

Highlighting the strategic vulnerability of energy routes, the minister noted that the majority of Pakistan’s petroleum supplies transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Given the sensitivity of the waterway amid regional instability, he emphasized that Saudi cooperation is critically important for maintaining uninterrupted fuel supplies.

On the occasion, Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki reiterated that Saudi Arabia stands ready to extend full cooperation to Pakistan in case of any emergency requirement. He stated that both countries have historically supported each other during challenging times and will continue to stand together in periods of trial.
