Karachi: Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to secure the safe and early release of Pakistani crew members reportedly being held aboard a vessel in Somalia, as government officials continue to engage with both domestic and international stakeholders on the matter.

According to official sources, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has taken an active role in the case and has established contact with senior government officials and Somali authorities to expedite efforts for the crew’s release.

The maritime minister held a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, during which both leaders discussed the situation of the detained Pakistani sailors and the measures being taken to ensure their return home. In addition to his discussions with the foreign minister, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry also contacted the Somali Ambassador to Pakistan.
