Khairpur (Press Release) – After remaining closed for a year, the Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan Musical Academy in Khairpur has resumed its activities. The academy has announced that, with the support of ASA District Khairpur, a joint commemorative program will be held on September 20 in honor of Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan, Ustad Gulzar Ali Khan, and Ustad Arbab Khan Khuhso.

In this regard, the inaugural ceremony of the academy’s new office and a formal meeting were held under the chairmanship of Academy Director Ustad Abdul Ghafoor Soomro. The event was attended by senior and junior artists including Sharif Abbasi, Asif Raza Soomro, Didar Jummani, Shoaib Raza Shah, Ali Gul Leghari, Shahzado alias Salar Sindhi, and others.

Participants expressed joy and satisfaction over the academy securing a suitable new location, adding that it will help strengthen cultural and musical education in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Ustad Abdul Ghafoor Soomro stated that the Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan Musical Academy has been functioning as a registered institution for the past 22 years, during which hundreds of young male and female artists have received training and become capable of earning livelihoods. Many among them are now working as music teachers.

He further explained that the academy had been closed for the past year due to financial constraints and other challenges. However, with the relocation to a proper venue, the academy now plans to conduct regular daily classes. He affirmed that efforts will continue to promote the art of music and provide support to emerging artists.

Ustad Abdul Ghafoor Soomro also announced that on September 20, with the cooperation of ASA District Khairpur, the joint death anniversary of Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan, Ustad Gulzar Ali Khan, and Ustad Arbab Khan Khuhso will be observed. For this purpose, an ASA District Khairpur meeting will soon be convened to finalize the plan of action.

The gathering concluded with captivating live performances by Ustad Abdul Ghafoor Soomro, Sharif Abbasi, Asif Raza Soomro, and others.
