Hyderabad, January 2026: Sindh University officers are confronting numerous administrative, financial, and service-related issues, and according to Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, strong, empowered, and honest representation is essential to address these challenges effectively.

Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah criticized the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sadiq Kalhoro, stating that during his four-year term, no officer received promotions, and many officers retired without promotions simply because a specific group of faculty members influenced decisions. He added that promotions were limited to a particular group of teachers, while many officers, faculty, and staff faced retaliation.

In 2018, under the support of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, a syndicate seat for officers was approved in the University Act for all universities. Unfortunately, he noted, the implementation of this syndicate was delayed, with only a few officers benefiting initially.

According to Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad Circuit Bench, has ordered syndicate elections on 6 January 2026, in which he is a candidate. He pledged that if elected, he will vigorously advocate for officers’ issues, including:

Promotions and career progression

Time scale and service structure allowances

Housing allotments in residential colonies

Development of Phase-3 Benazir Bhutto Housing Scheme

Panel hospitals and other legitimate demands

He emphasized that the university syndicate is the most important forum where officers’ voices influence policies and decisions. Previously dominated solely by faculty, this is now a prime opportunity for officers to elect their representatives and actively participate in shaping university policies.
