Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Haider Shah Inaugurates New Revenue Complex and AC Office in New Sukkur
Sukkur — Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Asif Haider Shah, paid an official visit to New Sukkur today where he formally inaugurated the newly constructed office of the Assistant Commissioner and the newly established Revenue Complex. He was accompanied by Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi, who welcomed him and briefed him on the administrative upgrades being carried out across the division.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shehzad Khan, Assistant Commissioner New Sukkur Waseem Mahar, Assistant Commissioner Sukkur City Sarah Faraz, ASP City Sukkur Sohaib Ameen, other Assistant Commissioners, officers of the district administration, officials from the Revenue Department, and several local representatives. The event marked an important milestone in the ongoing efforts to modernize administrative services and improve public access to government facilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Asif Haider Shah highly appreciated the efforts of Assistant Commissioner New Sukkur, Waseem Mahar, for successfully completing the construction of a modern, well-designed, and citizen-friendly building. He remarked, “Waseem Mahar has set a commendable example by constructing such a modern and public-friendly office. Sindh needs hardworking officers with vision, and his efforts truly reflect dedication to public service.”
The Chief Secretary further directed other Assistant Commissioners to take similar steps for the construction, renovation, and upgrading of their respective offices so that administrative environments can better facilitate both officers and the public. He emphasized that improved infrastructure directly contributes to more efficient service delivery and enhances the overall quality of governance.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary also inquired from the Assistant Commissioners about office hours, public dealing procedures, and the mechanism for addressing citizen complaints. He instructed the officers to resolve public issues on priority and ensure that the grievance-redressal system is functioning effectively. According to him, timely resolution of public problems is a core responsibility of the district administration and must be carried out with full sincerity.
In a traditional gesture of hospitality, Assistant Commissioner New Sukkur Waseem Mahar and Assistant Commissioner Saleh Pat, Majid Mako, presented the Chief Secretary with Sindhi topi and ajrak, symbolizing respect and the rich cultural heritage of the region. The Chief Secretary appreciated the gesture and acknowledged the strong cultural identity of Sindh that continues to be upheld by its people.
During the briefing session, officials informed the Chief Secretary that the newly established AC offices now include e-services counters for domicile issuance, allowing citizens to apply digitally and receive services more quickly. This shift towards digitization aims to reduce delays, curb bureaucratic hurdles, and enhance transparency in the revenue and administrative processes.
Additionally, the officials highlighted that separate washrooms for women have been constructed within the offices, ensuring better convenience and a more comfortable environment for female visitors. The Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over these improvements and emphasized that gender-friendly facilities must be included in all government buildings.
The new Revenue Complex and AC office are designed to serve as centralized hubs where multiple public services related to revenue, documentation, and administrative matters will be provided under one roof. This consolidation aims to reduce the burden on citizens who previously had to visit different offices for routine paperwork.
Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi, briefed the Chief Secretary on the overall development plans for Sukkur and the steps being taken to improve service delivery across the division. He stated that the new complex would enhance efficiency, ensure better record management, and create a more professional environment for both staff and visitors.
Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, Nadir Shehzad Khan, added that the district administration is working actively to strengthen governance structures and ensure that all departments adopt modern standards of service. He reiterated that the public’s trust in government institutions increases when administrative facilities are accessible, well-managed, and supportive of citizens’ needs.
Local representatives present at the ceremony welcomed the inauguration and expressed hope that the new office would significantly ease the difficulties faced by residents seeking revenue-related services.
