Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has revealed that the suicide bomber responsible for the recent attack in Islamabad was not a Pakistani national, adding a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into the devastating assault that left multiple casualties.

Speaking on Geo News’ program “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath”, Talal Chaudhry stated that initial investigations and forensic evidence have confirmed the foreign origin of the attacker. “The suicide bomber who carried out the attack in Islamabad was not Pakistani,” he said, stressing that the government has credible information linking the perpetrators to elements based outside Pakistan.

The minister further explained that after closely examining evidence from both the Wana and Islamabad attacks, authorities concluded that the operations bore the signatures of external involvement. “Based on the evidence gathered from both incidents, we have named India and Afghanistan as having possible links to these terrorist activities,” Chaudhry remarked.

He emphasized that the government intends to share relevant intelligence with mediators and international partners, ensuring transparency in the investigation and strengthening Pakistan’s case against cross-border terrorism. “We will provide these details through diplomatic channels and intelligence-sharing frameworks,” he added.

Talal Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan has suffered greatly from terrorism and remains fully committed to eliminating the menace, regardless of its origin. “Our security forces have made tremendous sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. Any attempt to destabilize Pakistan from foreign soil will be met with a strong response,” he said.

Security analysts view Chaudhry’s remarks as a reflection of the government’s growing concern over the reemergence of coordinated militant attacks in sensitive areas of the country, including the federal capital. The revelation of the attacker’s foreign identity has intensified demands for stricter border surveillance and enhanced intelligence cooperation with neighboring countries.

Sources in the Interior Ministry have confirmed that DNA profiling and forensic testing are being used to verify the bomber’s identity and origin. Preliminary results reportedly point toward a foreign network operating through local facilitators, several of whom have already been arrested in recent days.

The Islamabad suicide attack, which targeted the Judicial Complex, left deep concerns among citizens and legal professionals over security lapses in what was considered a highly protected zone. The government has since initiated multiple steps to fortify the capital’s security, including the installation of scanners, deployment of snipers, and the introduction of new access-control protocols at sensitive sites.
