Imran Khan Writes to Chief Justice: “Justice Doors Closed, My Room Turned Into a Cage”
Islamabad (September 18, 2025): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has once again reached out to the judiciary, writing a fresh letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, expressing his grievances about prolonged solitary confinement, political victimization, and the deteriorating health of his wife, Bushra Bibi.
The handwritten letter, delivered by Khan’s sister Aleema Khan to the Supreme Court’s R&I Branch, paints a grim picture of the former prime minister’s current conditions in detention. In his words, “The doors of justice have been shut on me and my wife. My 9×11 cell has been turned into a cage, and I have been subjected to solitary confinement for 772 days.”
Khan further highlighted the gravity of his political persecution, stating that over 300 cases have been lodged against him, calling it “an unprecedented example in Pakistan’s history.”
The PTI founder also expressed grave concern over Bushra Bibi’s health, alleging that despite her deteriorating condition, prison authorities were not allowing doctors to examine her. He warned that denying her medical care could have severe consequences and appealed for urgent judicial intervention.
Meanwhile, speaking outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Aleema Khan confirmed that she had also requested the Chief Justice to schedule the hearing of the suspension of sentences case for both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. She told reporters that Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar assured them that the plea for suspension of sentences would be taken up on September 25, 2025.
This latest letter underscores Imran Khan’s continuing strategy of appealing directly to the judiciary in an attempt to secure relief, both for himself and his wife, amid what his party describes as “state-led persecution.”
