Sharm El-Sheikh: The first round of negotiations aimed at ending the Gaza war between Hamas, Israel, and international mediators has concluded in Egypt, with talks scheduled to resume today.

The discussions, held in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, were led by senior Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya. U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner also participated in the talks.

Delegations from Qatar and Egypt attended the late-night session as mediators. According to a senior Palestinian official, Hamas outlined its position on the release of hostages, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, and a proposed timeline for implementing these steps.

The first round concluded after intensive deliberations, with sources describing the atmosphere as “serious but constructive.” The next phase of talks will focus on technical details related to the ceasefire framework and humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
