Islamabad – Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not shown any intention to talk with the government; instead, they want to negotiate with the establishment.

Speaking on Geo News’ program Geo Pakistan, Rana Sanaullah stated that the PTI founder has said that his release should not be discussed during negotiations. According to him, the PTI founder insists that his release should come through the courts and on merit, not through any political deal. “If PTI doesn’t want political dialogue, then what is there to talk about?” he questioned.

He further said that from Ali Amin Gandapur’s statements, it seems PTI wants instability in the country, and that appears to be their only agenda. “If PTI remains peaceful, that’s fine, but if they take the law into their own hands or attempt to destabilize the country — which has been their strategy from the start — then the law will take its course,” he warned. He also reminded viewers that PTI had previously held rallies outside IMF offices and written letters urging the organization not to release funds to Pakistan, essentially pushing the country toward economic collapse.

The PML-N leader said that the legal cases against Imran Khan are in court, and appeals have been filed. PTI’s stated position is that Imran Khan’s release should not be a condition in any talks. Imran Khan himself has said he seeks release only through the courts and on merit.

Rana Sanaullah added that the government is willing to discuss PTI’s other demands, but the party is not interested in engaging with the government — they are trying to resolve their matters directly with the establishment. “They are unwilling to sit with political parties or politicians. Their agenda remains the same: to get the kind of help they received in 2018 when the RTS system was shut down to bring them into power. They do not desire political dialogue,” he said.

He concluded by stating that the government wishes to restore the economy and see Pakistan emerge as a developed country, and is open to dialogue to achieve that goal.

On the other hand, PTI leader Malik Adeel Iqbal, also speaking on the program, said that preparations are underway for a movement by August 5. He added that PTI is always ready to engage in negotiations for the rule of law in the country.
