It has been revealed that Google is using videos available on YouTube to train its advanced artificial intelligence (AI) models, especially Gemini and V4 (View Four), even though many content creators are unaware that their content is being used for this purpose.

According to a report by CNBC, Google is using a selected subsection of the 30 billion videos available on YouTube to train its AI models.

It is still unclear which specific videos have been selected, but Google states that it respects the agreements made with content creators and media companies.

A Google spokesperson said, “We have always used YouTube content to improve our products, and this practice has not changed with the advent of AI.”

The spokesperson further added, “We take user protection seriously and are committed to ensuring our practices remain safe and responsible.”

However, the critical issue is that YouTube users currently have no option to exclude their videos from being used in AI training processes.

According to YouTube’s policies, when users upload content, they also grant Google a license to use that content globally.

Many content creators are expressing concern that their videos are being used to train AI models that could potentially replace their work in the future or compete with them.
