Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to publicly disclose details regarding central contracts, including the number of players and their respective categories.

According to PCB sources, the breakdown of central contracts across different categories will remain confidential, as it is considered part of the selection process. The board has stated that the distribution of players into various categories and tracks will not be made public.

Officials added that decisions regarding central contracts fall under internal selection policy, and therefore, the number of contracted players and their classification will not be officially announced in detail.

Sources further revealed that contracted players have also been informed about domestic cricket requirements. Under the proposed guidelines, players may be required to participate in domestic competitions, including around five first-class matches and up to ten List A matches, depending on their availability and assignments.

The PCB is also working on a broader restructuring of its central contract system, aiming to align it with modern performance-based models. According to officials, the new system emphasizes accountability, performance metrics, and fitness standards.

Under the revised approach, players are expected to remain available for domestic cricket whenever they are not on international duty. The board believes this will help strengthen the domestic structure and improve overall player performance.

The PCB has maintained that all decisions related to contracts are aimed at improving team performance and ensuring transparency in selection standards, even though detailed contract breakdowns will not be shared publicly.
