Umerkot: Abdul Karim Tabassum Mangrio, a young social activist and science promoter from Umerkot, has been honored by the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) with an honorary award, certificate of appreciation, and a special gift in recognition of his outstanding performance in the Space Ambassador Contest 2025.

The award, presented during 2026, recognizes Mangrio’s continued efforts to promote science, technology, and space education among students. His achievement is being hailed as a matter of pride not only for Umerkot but also for the entire province of Sindh.

For several years, Abdul Karim Tabassum Mangrio has actively collaborated with SUPARCO in organizing educational and awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging scientific learning among schoolchildren. Through his initiatives, he has conducted numerous awareness sessions, space exhibitions, and science competitions in schools and educational institutions across the region.

His programs introduce students to a wide range of topics, including space science, modern technology, robotics, satellites, rockets, space stations, astronaut life, and space exploration. The sessions combine theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations to inspire students to develop an interest in science and innovation.

Under his guidance, students also design and build working models of robots, satellites, rockets, space stations, and other scientific projects. These models are later showcased in exhibitions and inter-school science competitions, where outstanding participants are recognized with awards and prizes to encourage further learning and creativity.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Karim Tabassum Mangrio said that if children are introduced to science, research, and technology from an early age, they can grow into successful scientists, engineers, and researchers capable of contributing to the country’s development.

He said his mission is to continue expanding scientific activities in schools and inspire young people to pursue careers in science and technology without interruption.

SUPARCO has acknowledged his educational contributions on several occasions in previous years, and the recognition received through the Space Ambassador Contest 2025 is being regarded as an appreciation of his dedication, hard work, and sustained efforts in promoting scientific education.

Beyond space science, Mangrio is also actively involved in community service, environmental awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, public health awareness, and youth development programs. He has consistently worked to encourage positive engagement among young people while promoting innovation and critical thinking.

His long-term vision is to equip the children and youth of Umerkot with modern scientific knowledge and technological skills, enabling them to compete successfully at both the national and international levels.
