Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign to Begin in Sukkur from November 17 Under Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shehzad’s Supervision

Sukkur
Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, Nadir Shehzad Khan, chaired an important meeting to review the preparations for the Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign, the performance of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), and arrangements for the upcoming National Immunization Days (NIDs).

During the meeting, it was formally decided that the Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign across Sukkur district will be conducted from November 17 to November 29, 2025, targeting all eligible children under the prescribed age group. The campaign aims to immunize thousands of children to prevent the spread of these highly contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases.

Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shehzad emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination among all concerned departments to ensure the campaign’s smooth and effective execution. He directed that every step be taken to maintain the cold chain system for vaccine preservation and ensure the availability of trained health staff throughout the campaign period. “No child in Sukkur should be left unvaccinated,” he stressed.

Highlighting the lessons from previous immunization drives, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that only those field workers who demonstrated outstanding performance during the Polio campaigns should be deployed in this upcoming effort. He further stated that special focus should be placed on reaching remote and underserved areas where vaccination coverage has previously been low.

The meeting was attended by key health officials, including District Health Officer (DHO) Sukkur Dr. Ali Gul Shah, Dr. Tanveer Abbasi, Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Bushra Mansoor, Murtaza Shah, Dr. Jameel, Jamaluddin, and other senior officers from the health and district administration.
