Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has announced that electricity consumers will no longer be able to pay their bills through Pakistan Post after 31 December 2026.

According to a public notice issued by the company, consumers will instead be able to pay their electricity bills through commercial banks, their mobile banking applications, and the Raast digital payment system.

The move is aimed at improving payment convenience and promoting digital financial services across the country.

The notice says the transition is expected to provide customers with immediate confirmation of their payments through their mobile phones.

It is also expected to help reduce complaints from consumers who receive repeated electricity bills despite having already made their payments.

MEPCO said the initiative is part of the government’s broader Digital Pakistan Vision, which aims to encourage digital transactions and expand the use of electronic payment services.

As part of the initiative, an incentive scheme was also introduced for consumers who pay their electricity bills through Raast, under which nine successful consumers have received prizes through a lucky draw.
