A workshop was organized at a private hotel in Sukkur through the joint collaboration of Naari Foundation Sukkur and Transparency International. The purpose of this workshop was to highlight the capabilities of women, strengthen their voices, and prepare them for effective participation in public decision-making.

The program organizer, Nasreen Memon, during the workshop, provided awareness to women regarding their fundamental issues—particularly about awareness against corruption. In connection with International Anti-Corruption Day, detailed discussions were held on the challenges faced by women.

The Director of the Provincial Ombudsman Office Sukkur, Police Department representative Rukhsana Mangi, Program Manager Shazia Abbasi, Nirma Lodhi, Zubair Ahmed Mehr, and Executive Director of Naari Foundation Anwar Ali Mehr also addressed the participants.

Women representing NGOs from different areas of Sukkur district attended the workshop and shared their experiences, views, and problems.

Speakers stated that currently, 110 anti-corruption institutions are active in the country, but to eliminate corruption completely, it is essential to raise public awareness and ensure their active participation.

Discussions were also held on complaints received about corruption in orphanages, education, health, media, social welfare, NGOs working with persons with disabilities, and housing societies.

Speakers emphasized that mafias present within institutions are the root cause of corruption and mismanagement.

It was also shared in the workshop that steps have been taken since 2018 for the protection of women, including the establishment of the Women Police. However, in recent years, women themselves have begun raising their voices on their issues.

According to statistics, more than 350 cases of violence against women have been reported—proof that awareness among women has increased, and they are now stepping out of their homes to practically struggle for their rights.
