Islamabad (Saturday, July 19, 2025) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested key accused in the Rs. 40 billion Kohistan mega corruption scandal, including two government officials and three contractors.

According to reports, the arrested individuals will be presented before the accountability court today. The accused are charged with embezzlement through fake checks, money laundering, and misuse of benami (anonymous) accounts.

Sources revealed that the District Accounts Officer played a central role in the scandal. Official documents have exposed that the Accountant General’s (AG) office was involved in the illegal misuse of government funds through collusion.

NAB sources further stated that more arrests are expected as the investigation continues. The accused allegedly committed billions of rupees in fraud through fake billing and bogus construction firms.
