Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mahmood has said that the anti-dengue campaign should not be mistaken for a mere paperwork and negligence or carelessness at any level in the matter of protecting human lives cannot be tolerated. He directed all the concerned departments to go to the field and work practically and ensure timely completion of the monitoring report as well as the daily performance of spray machines, teams and geo-tagging of hotspots. He was presiding over a meeting held to review the performance of the ongoing anti-dengue campaign across the district, in which Additional Deputy Commissioner General Niaz Ahmed Mughal, Assistant Commissioner Rana Aurangzeb, Narjis Khatun Jafri, CEO Health Dr. Abdul Majeed Niazi and officers of other concerned departments participated. A detailed briefing was given in the meeting regarding anti-dengue measures, surveillance, facilities available in hospitals, monitoring of patients, and identification of sensitive areas. The Deputy Commissioner also directed to make the awareness campaign among the citizens effective and said that schools, colleges, mosques and social media should be used to convey the message to every individual that caution is the best way to prevent dengue. He directed the health department and local government institutions to work in coordination and prevent the spread of this deadly disease at all costs. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned Assistant Commissioners to conduct field visits in their respective areas on a daily basis and submit reports.
