A horrific incident near Sukkur’s central bus terminal has shaken the entire city. A young man, Zain-ul-Abideen Shar, was allegedly poisoned to death in a brutal manner, while the culprits managed to escape with ease.

Following the tragedy, the victim’s family members staged a strong protest outside the Sukkur National Press Club, demanding justice and immediate arrest of those responsible. The protest was led by the grieving parents — father Imdad Shar and mother Irshad Khatoon — along with relatives including Mu’tabar Shar, Basheer Shar, and Shehzado Shar.

The protesting family narrated in anguish that on 27th July, accused Imam Bakhsh Shar forcefully gave Zain-ul-Abideen a deadly substance known as “Kaala Pathar” (a toxic chemical), which led to his painful death. The victim was rushed to Civil Hospital in critical condition, where post-mortem was carried out in the presence of police officials. Despite clear evidence, the family lamented that Aabadh Police failed miserably in arresting the culprits.

The victim’s heirs leveled serious allegations against local police officers, claiming that SHO Zulfiqar Chachar and head clerk Muhammad Ali Ghamro of Aabadh Police Station had accepted heavy bribes from the accused party, and deliberately refused to register the FIR.

During the protest, the bereaved family members held copies of the Holy Quran in their hands, swearing upon it that they were being denied justice and forced to wander from door to door. They expressed their helplessness and anguish, calling for intervention at the highest level.

The protestors appealed directly to the IG Sindh, DIG Sukkur, and SSP Sukkur to take urgent notice of the crime. They demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Zain-ul-Abideen and protection for the grieving family. The protestors further warned that if justice is not served, they will be compelled to expand their protest movement, which may spread across Sindh in the coming days.

This heart-wrenching case has once again highlighted the deep mistrust between citizens and local police, raising critical questions about corruption, inefficiency, and the lack of accountability within the law enforcement system.
