Commendation from DIG Sukkur Range Captain (R) Faisal Abdullah Chachar for Sukkur Range Police’s

Extraordinary Security Measures during Muharram, especially on the Day of Ashura

All officers and personnel of the Sukkur Range Police remained alert and active day and night from the 1st of Muharram to the Day of Ashura.
The security clearance for religious gatherings, processions, and other ceremonies, as well as overall traffic management, remained satisfactory.

In accordance with the Muharram Security Plan, 697 mourning processions were held across the three districts of Sukkur Range—Sukkur, Khairpur, and Ghotki—of which 32 were highly sensitive, 271 sensitive, and 394 normal. A total of 3,093 religious gatherings (majalis) took place, including 25 highly sensitive, 255 sensitive, and 2,813 categorized as normal.

Modern technology including CCTV surveillance and local intelligence was effectively used to ensure security for the processions and gatherings.

We extend gratitude to the Deputy Commissioners of Sukkur, Khairpur, and Ghotki, as well as officials and staff from Municipal Corporations and other district administrations, paramedical staff, SEPCO management, and all other stakeholders for their full cooperation during the security arrangements.

The role of respected scholars, orators, religious leaders, and community elders from all schools of thought, included in the peace committees across the three districts of Sukkur Range, has been extremely positive and commendable. Their full trust, cooperation, and satisfaction with police security measures is also praiseworthy.

The professionalism, sense of duty, and excellent strategies of the SSPs of Sukkur, Khairpur, and Ghotki played a key role in the success of the security operations. All units including traffic police, lady police, RRF, special branch, IT, telecommunications, training centers, and others made notable contributions to security arrangements.

From the 1st to the 10th of Muharram, more than 9,416 male and female police officers and personnel performed security duties as part of the Muharram security plan in the Sukkur Range.

The role of all media houses—print, electronic, and social media—during Muharram, especially in promoting religious harmony and reporting on peace and security efforts, deserves high appreciation.

Additionally, the contributions of other law enforcement agencies, including Rangers and the Army, during Muharram were also commendable and praiseworthy.
