Islamabad – In a full court meeting presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the rules regarding increased court fees and securities have been suspended. A formal notification has also been issued to this effect.

According to the issued notification, the rates of court fees and securities have been reverted to those under the 1980 rules. This decision restores the earlier fee structure, effectively nullifying the recent increases.

It is notable that Mian Rauf Ata, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, had submitted written proposals requesting the reversal of the court fee hike. In his proposal, Mian Rauf Ata argued that the increase in court fees contravenes the constitutional provision under Article 37D, which guarantees affordable and speedy access to justice. He emphasized that access to justice should remain available to all citizens without financial barriers.
