Khawaja Asif Warns India of Strong Response to Any Future Aggression
ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning to India, saying Pakistan would respond decisively to any future aggression and that any attempt to challenge Pakistan again would have serious consequences.
Speaking during a special interview on the television program Capital Talk hosted by senior journalist Hamid Mir, the defence minister responded to recent remarks made by the Indian Army Chief and said India was still dealing with the impact of the “response” it had previously received from Pakistan.
“If India challenges Pakistan again, we will change its geography and turn it into part of history,” Khawaja Asif said during the interview, using strong language while referring to tensions between the two neighboring nuclear-armed countries.
The defence minister’s remarks come amid continued strain in Pakistan-India relations, which have remained tense for years due to disputes over Kashmir, border tensions, and regional security concerns. Political and military statements from both sides often attract significant attention because of the sensitive nature of bilateral relations.
During the interview, Khawaja Asif also spoke about the broader regional situation, particularly concerns regarding Iran and the possibility of renewed military escalation involving the United States or Israel.
He dismissed the possibility of another attack on Iran by either the United States or Israel, stating that there was currently no likelihood of such action because many countries in the international community were not in favor of further war or regional conflict.
“There is no possibility of another attack on Iran by the United States or Israel because other countries do not support war,” the defence minister said.
The comments came at a time when tensions in the Middle East continue to remain under close international observation following recent regional developments and concerns over escalation involving Iran, Israel, and Western powers.
Khawaja Asif also addressed speculation regarding a proposed “28th Constitutional Amendment.” Clarifying the government’s position, he stated that no discussion regarding such an amendment had taken place within the federal cabinet so far.
Speaking firmly on the issue, the defence minister said reports and debates surrounding the proposed amendment were premature because the matter had not officially been discussed at the cabinet level.
Political observers say the minister’s statements reflect the government’s attempt to project a strong stance on national security issues while also responding to ongoing political debate within the country.
Pakistan and India have experienced multiple military confrontations and diplomatic crises over the decades, and statements by senior officials on both sides are often closely monitored internationally due to concerns about regional stability.
Analysts note that while political rhetoric between the two countries occasionally intensifies, both nations also face international pressure to avoid escalation and maintain regional peace.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif’s comments regarding Iran suggest Pakistan’s preference for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions in the Middle East, especially as wider regional conflict could have significant implications for South Asia and the broader Muslim world.
The interview has drawn attention on social media and political circles, with supporters praising the minister’s strong tone on national security while critics have urged restraint in diplomatic language between neighboring countries.
Pakistan’s government has repeatedly maintained that it supports peace in the region but remains prepared to defend the country against any external threat or aggression.
