“We’re Tired of Missiles”: Fearful Israelis Flee Country by Sea Amid Ongoing War

Tel Aviv (Tuesday, June 17, 2025) – As Iran continues its retaliatory strikes on Israel, Israeli citizens gripped by fear have begun fleeing the country.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, with flights suspended due to the war, many civilians are now opting to leave via the sea.

Frightened by Iranian missile attacks, many Israelis have set their sights on Cyprus as their destination, gathering at the Herzliya Marina in large numbers.

From early morning, a growing crowd of citizens has been arriving at the marina, desperate to leave the country and willing to pay high prices for seats on departing boats.

Speaking to Haaretz at the port, several individuals said that the war has created a state of uncertainty and that they are fed up with the constant missile threats.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government has claimed that those leaving the country are not Israeli citizens but foreign nationals returning to their home countries due to the war.
