Sukkur: Utility Stores Corporation Employees Protest Over Non-Payment of Salaries to Contract and Daily Wage Workers

Sukkur (Bureau Report) – A large number of employees from the Sukkur Zone of the Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan held a protest at the Zonal and Regional Office Sukkur, under the leadership of Abdul Qayoom Buriro, Central Vice President of the All Pakistan National Workers Union (CBA). The protest was staged against the non-payment of salaries to contract and daily wage employees, with workers chanting slogans to press their demands.

During his address to the protesting employees, central leader Abdul Qayoom Buriro expressed strong anger over the non-payment of salaries to contract and daily wage workers. He said that the management of the Utility Stores Corporation is not paying salaries despite clear orders from the NIRC (National Industrial Relations Commission) Court, which he termed as blatant injustice and contempt of court.

He further stated that due to the non-payment of salaries, employees are facing extreme hardships, with many households nearing starvation, and workers are under severe stress. He demanded that salaries be immediately paid to all contract and daily wage employees and that suspended workers be reinstated in accordance with court orders.

He warned that if these demands are not met, a sit-in protest will be held at D-Chowk in Islamabad, and the full responsibility for any consequences will lie with the management.

It is worth noting that protests by utility store employees are also ongoing in various cities across Sindh over the same issues—non-payment of salaries to contract and daily wage workers and the refusal to reinstate suspended employees despite court orders.
