Peshawar: A clear contradiction has emerged between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the provincial police regarding the withdrawal of security provided to Awami National Party (ANP) central president, Aimal Wali Khan.

According to Chief Minister’s spokesperson, Faraz Mughal, the decision to reduce Aimal Wali’s security was taken by the federal government. However, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur disagreed with this directive and instructed the provincial police chief to ensure that Wali’s security arrangements remain intact.

The spokesperson clarified that while political differences exist, the protection of human life is beyond compromise. He reminded that the Wali family has previously been targeted, and therefore, reducing security for Aimal Wali Khan is not an option.

The apparent contradiction between the KP government’s stance and the initial actions of the police has sparked political debate. Analysts say the incident highlights not only the sensitive security environment in the province but also the tensions between federal and provincial authorities over handling political figures’ safety.

Observers stress that the matter underscores the need for consistent and transparent policies to safeguard political leaders, especially in regions with a history of violence against parties like ANP.
