Iran has achieved another milestone in space exploration by successfully sending three domestically developed satellites into orbit.

On Sunday, Iran launched its three new satellites using a Russian Soyuz rocket. According to the Iranian official news agency, Payam, the satellites named Paya, Zafar-2, and Kosar 1.5 were launched from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome and are currently orbiting approximately 500 kilometers above the Earth.

Iranian officials stated that the mission was conducted for both civilian and research purposes.

Informed sources indicated that these satellites were designed by Iran’s private sector and academic institutions, aiming to assist in environmental monitoring and improved management of natural resources.

Details of Paya, Zafar-2, and Kosar 1.5:

• Paya, weighing around 150 kilograms, is Iran’s most advanced and heaviest imaging satellite to date. It incorporates advanced artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance image quality and will be used for water resource monitoring, mapping, and environmental analysis.
• Zafar-2 was developed by university researchers, while Kosar 1.5 is a high-resolution satellite created by an Iranian private company.

According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, the Soyuz rocket was chosen for its reliable performance and the safe delivery of sensitive equipment.

The report also noted that Iran has launched ten satellites into space over the past two years, including a July launch from the same Russian site.

Officials stated that these satellites will serve various civilian purposes, including agricultural planning, relief operations during floods and earthquakes, and monitoring environmental changes.
