Badin Press Club Hosts Independence Day Ceremony with District Officials and Journalists

On the historic occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, the Badin Press Club organized a colorful and dignified ceremony to celebrate the nation’s freedom. The event, attended by government officials, press club representatives, and local journalists, became a symbol of unity between the state and the media in promoting patriotism, awareness, and cultural identity.

The ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Deputy Commissioner (DC) Badin, Mr. Yasser Bhatti, ADC-I Kashif Raza Mangi, Assistant Commissioner Badin, Rajesh Dalpat, District Information Officer, Sarfaraz Samoon, and Chief Accountant, District Badin, Mr. Photo Khan Khokhar. Alongside them, the President of Badin Press Club, Shoukat Memon, General Secretary Abdul Shakoor Memon, Vice President Ashraf Abdullah Memon, senior journalists, and press club members were present in large numbers.

The event began with warm greetings exchanged among officials and journalists, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony to mark Independence Day. The honor of cutting the cake was shared by DC Badin Yasser Bhatti, alongside other officials and press club leaders, symbolizing collective celebration and shared responsibility for the progress of the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Yasser Bhatti extended heartfelt congratulations to the office bearers and members of the Badin Press Club for organizing the Independence Day celebration in such a graceful manner. He emphasized that Independence Day holds extraordinary significance for every great nation because it reminds them of their sacrifices, struggles, and achievements.

Mr. Bhatti remarked, “Pakistanis have proven themselves to be a great nation by defending their homeland with courage and resilience in every trial of history, particularly in decisive battles fought for the nation’s survival and dignity. The Independence Day is not merely a date on the calendar but a reminder of the values of sacrifice, unity, and patriotism.”

Highlighting the role of journalism in the nation’s journey, he noted that since the creation of Pakistan in 1947, the media has played an important role in shaping public opinion, raising awareness, and guiding the nation towards progress. Journalists, he said, have remained at the forefront in the struggle for truth, accountability, and freedom of expression, thereby strengthening democracy and the foundations of the state.

The DC particularly appreciated the media’s role in countering disinformation during moments of crisis. Referring to recent episodes of Indian aggression, he praised Pakistani media and journalists for exposing India’s propaganda and presenting Pakistan’s stance effectively before the world. “While India attempted to mislead the global community, it was our journalists and media outlets who fearlessly defended the truth, unmasked the bloody face of aggression, and ensured that Pakistan’s voice was heard,” Mr. Bhatti added.

He stressed that freedom comes with responsibility, and the press has a duty to continue serving the people by reporting facts, promoting unity, and safeguarding national interest. He reassured journalists that the district administration of Badin stands with them in their mission for truth and public awareness.

The ceremony also carried cultural significance, as members of the Badin Press Club presented traditional Sindhi gifts of Ajrak and Longi to Deputy Commissioner Yasser Bhatti and other distinguished guests. These gifts symbolized Sindh’s rich heritage of hospitality and respect for those who serve the community. The gesture was warmly appreciated by the officials, who expressed their admiration for Sindhi culture and traditions.

In his address, Shoukat Memon, President of Badin Press Club, thanked the Deputy Commissioner and all government officials for attending the ceremony and sharing in the celebrations with journalists. He said that Independence Day becomes meaningful when all sections of society come together to celebrate, and that the press club felt honored to host an event that united officials and the media under one roof.

Former President Tanveer Ahmed Arai, General Secretary Abdul Shakoor Memon, and Vice President Ashraf Abdullah Memon also shared their reflections, emphasizing the need for journalists to remain committed to their professional values and responsibilities. They highlighted that the media’s role as a bridge between the government and the people becomes even more crucial during times of uncertainty, conflict, and political tension.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the prosperity of Pakistan, the safety of its people, and the continued success of its institutions. Guests and journalists pledged to play their respective roles in promoting peace, stability, and development.

The Independence Day celebrations at Badin Press Club carried both symbolic and practical meaning. Symbolically, it reminded the attendees of the sacrifices made by the founding fathers and martyrs of Pakistan, whose vision of freedom continues to guide the nation. Practically, it reinforced the bond between the media and the administration, both of whom share the responsibility of building a stronger, more informed society.

By hosting such an event, the Badin Press Club demonstrated that journalists are not only recorders of history but also active participants in shaping it. Their collaboration with public officials on Independence Day highlighted a shared commitment to truth, accountability, and progress.

As the evening drew to a close, the sentiments of patriotism, unity, and cultural pride lingered among the participants. The image of officials and journalists cutting the Independence Day cake together, exchanging gifts, and sharing words of encouragement, will remain a memorable moment for the people of Badin.

In essence, the 78th Independence Day celebration organized by the Badin Press Club was a reflection of Pakistan’s democratic spirit, where the voices of the media and the actions of the government converged to honor the sacrifices of the past and commit to the responsibilities of the future.
