Court Cancels Ali Amin Gandapur’s Arrest Warrants in Audio Leak Case

Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has cancelled the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the ongoing audio leak case.

The decision was announced during a hearing conducted by District and Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Sapra, who reviewed the matter related to the warrants previously issued against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader.

Defence Argues Warrants Were Issued Over Single Absence

During the proceedings, Gandapur’s defence counsel argued that the non-bailable arrest warrants had been issued solely because the former chief minister failed to appear before the court on one hearing date.

The lawyer informed the court that Ali Amin Gandapur had now appeared in person and voluntarily surrendered before the court.

“Ali Amin Gandapur has surrendered before the court and is now at the mercy of the court,” the defence counsel stated during the hearing.

Request for Cancellation of Warrants

The defence requested the court to withdraw the arrest warrants, arguing that the same court that possesses the authority to issue warrants also has the authority to revoke them when circumstances justify such a decision.

The lawyer maintained that Gandapur’s appearance before the court demonstrated his willingness to participate in the legal process and comply with judicial proceedings.

Court Accepts Plea

After hearing the arguments presented by the defence, the court accepted the request and ordered the cancellation of the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against Ali Amin Gandapur.

The decision provides temporary relief to the PTI leader and allows the case to proceed through normal legal channels without the immediate enforcement of arrest orders.

Next Hearing Scheduled for July 15

Following the cancellation of the warrants, the court adjourned further proceedings in the audio leak case until July 15.

At the next hearing, the court is expected to continue examining the legal and evidentiary aspects of the case as part of the ongoing judicial process.

Background of the Case

The audio leak case relates to allegations surrounding the circulation of an audio recording that became the subject of legal proceedings. The matter has attracted political attention due to Gandapur’s prominent role in Pakistan’s political landscape and his association with PTI.

The issuance of non-bailable warrants had become a significant development in the case after his absence from an earlier court appearance.

Legal Significance

Legal experts note that courts often consider a defendant’s voluntary appearance and willingness to submit to the court’s jurisdiction when deciding whether arrest warrants should remain in force.

By surrendering before the court and seeking relief through legal channels, Gandapur’s defence was able to persuade the court to reconsider the necessity of the warrants.

Proceedings to Continue

While the arrest warrants have been cancelled, the case itself remains active. The court will continue hearing arguments and reviewing evidence in the coming weeks.

The next stage of the proceedings is expected to focus on the substantive issues related to the audio leak allegations, with both prosecution and defence likely to present their positions during future hearings.

For now, Ali Amin Gandapur has secured the cancellation of the warrants against him, while the legal process in the audio leak case continues under the supervision of the Islamabad district and sessions court.
