KARACHI: An Emirates cargo aircraft made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi after developing an engine-related technical fault while en route from Osaka, Japan, to Dubai, according to Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) sources.

PAA sources said the aircraft experienced a sudden engine malfunction during the flight, prompting the crew to declare an emergency.

The captain immediately contacted Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested permission for an emergency landing.

After receiving clearance from ATC, the cargo aircraft landed safely at Karachi airport without incident.

Airport authorities said emergency procedures were activated as a precaution, and the aircraft was brought to the ground safely. No injuries or damage were reported.

Technical teams are expected to inspect the aircraft to determine the cause of the engine problem before it is cleared to resume operations.

The incident comes a week after a Pakistani private cargo aircraft crashed while flying from Sharjah to Karachi. Five crew members were on board that aircraft at the time of the accident.

Authorities have not indicated whether the two incidents are related, and the emergency landing of the Emirates cargo plane is being treated as a separate technical occurrence.
