Dadu: (Monday, June 24, 2025) — In one of the busiest areas of Dadu city, near the police station, armed men attacked Jani Printing Press in broad daylight and opened fire. Senior journalist and district president of the organization working for children’s rights, Niaz Chandio, was critically injured by gunfire and has been transferred to Karachi in serious condition. Journalist Rafiq Channa, who was sitting at a nearby shop, was also injured by a bullet during the intense firing by the armed men.

Upon receiving information about the firing, police arrived at the scene and exchanged fire with the attackers. During this, an individual named Muhammad Ali Khaskheli, who is said to be a resident of Mehar, was killed on the spot. Police also recovered a pistol from his possession.

The injured Niaz Chandio’s brother, former press club president Wali Chandio, along with Imtiaz Chandio, Gul Hasan Chandio, and others stated that the attack on Jani Printing Press was carried out by drug dealers and their associates in retaliation to their reporting against the menace of drug trafficking, which has become a scourge on society. The press was attacked while our brother Niaz Chandio was writing news. The entire incident resulted in serious losses due to the armed men’s firing. They demand a judicial inquiry into the incident and the arrest of the responsible armed men.
