Beijing: China has successfully completed the load test of the world’s tallest and longest mountain suspension bridge, marking a major milestone in the country’s ambitious infrastructure development.

According to international media reports, the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou Province underwent a rigorous five-day load test, during which 96 heavy trucks weighing a combined 3,300 tons were simultaneously parked and driven across the structure to assess its strength and stability.

Engineering Feat

The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is not only the highest bridge in the world, standing 625 meters above the river, but also one of the longest bridges built in mountainous terrain, stretching a remarkable 2,890 meters.

The bridge connects two previously isolated areas, drastically reducing travel time across the rugged canyon and improving accessibility for trade, tourism, and local communities.

Opening Timeline

Chinese authorities announced that, following the successful load test, the bridge will be officially opened to traffic by the end of September 2025. Once operational, it is expected to become a vital transportation link, enhancing economic integration within the province and boosting tourism in the scenic canyon region.
