A protest demonstration was held outside the Naushahro Feroze Press Club by political and social activists against the continued denial of national language status to the Sindhi language. The demonstrators carried banners and placards and raised strong slogans in support of their demands. The protest reflected growing concerns among various segments of society regarding linguistic recognition and equal status for regional languages within Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the protesters stated that the Sindh Assembly had played a historic role in laying the foundation of Pakistan by passing the Pakistan Resolution prior to independence. They emphasized that the people of Sindh and their forefathers made immense sacrifices for the creation and stability of the country. Given this historical contribution and enduring commitment, they argued that the Sindhi language deserves its rightful place and official recognition at the national level.

The speakers maintained that granting national language status to Sindhi would not only acknowledge the cultural and historical significance of the language but would also promote inclusivity and strengthen the federation. They stressed that linguistic diversity is a source of strength rather than division, and that recognizing major regional languages would help foster unity, harmony, and mutual respect among different provinces and communities.

Addressing the gathering, M. Zafar Tagar, Sagar Yousaf Mangi, Muhammad Younis Rajpar, Ejaz Memon, Molabakhsh Mashori, Alinawaz Solangi, and Farhad Ghani Wastaro demanded that Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, and Pashto be granted the status of national languages. They argued that all major languages spoken across the country represent distinct cultures, histories, and identities, and therefore deserve equal constitutional recognition. According to the speakers, providing national status to these languages would ensure equal representation of Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage.

The protesters further stated that immediate steps should be taken to recognize Sindhi and other regional languages as national languages in order to address the sense of deprivation felt by many citizens. They said that failure to acknowledge linguistic rights contributes to frustration and alienation among the people. By contrast, fair recognition would promote linguistic harmony and strengthen national cohesion.

The speakers also underlined that language is deeply connected to identity, education, and social development. They noted that empowering regional languages through constitutional recognition could improve educational outcomes, cultural preservation, and public participation in governance. Recognizing multiple national languages, they argued, would not undermine the existing national framework but would instead enhance unity through respect for diversity.

At the conclusion of the demonstration, the protesters warned that if their legitimate demands were not accepted, they would expand the scope of their protest movement. They reiterated their commitment to continuing peaceful demonstrations until their demands for linguistic equality and constitutional recognition are fulfilled.
