Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that the extent of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan’s vision impairment can only be determined by qualified medical specialists, not by lawyers. Speaking to Geo News at Parliament House in Islamabad, Chaudhry emphasized that medical assessments must be made by expert doctors rather than legal representatives.

He stated that Imran Khan’s lawyer had been advised to prepare a medical report regarding his client’s condition, calling it an example of the rule of law in action. According to Chaudhry, determining how much vision Imran Khan has lost, and how seriously his eyesight has been affected, is strictly a medical matter. “A lawyer cannot decide whether his eye is functioning properly or how severe the damage is. This decision will be made by medical experts,” he said, adding that a specialist doctor has already been sent to examine him.

Chaudhry maintained that the government’s position regarding facilities provided to the PTI founder has been validated. He said the report concerning Imran Khan’s prison conditions confirms that he is receiving proper medical care and that necessary facilities are being provided in a timely manner. He argued that the government’s claims about ensuring his well-being have now been substantiated.

The minister further accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of politicizing the issue of Imran Khan’s health. He claimed that the party is raising concerns about his eyesight as part of a broader political strategy. According to Chaudhry, PTI is attempting to gain public sympathy after failing to achieve its objectives during the February 8 protest. “PTI has no other card left to play, so they are now playing the sympathy card,” he said.

He clarified that despite political rivalry, the government does not view Imran Khan as a personal enemy. “They are our political opponents, not personal ones,” Chaudhry said. He stressed that the government has never advocated denying basic rights or facilities to the former prime minister. “We have never said that his air conditioning should be removed or that food should not be allowed. He must receive every right granted under the law,” he added.
