Melbourne Stars Reveal Why They Refused to Let Go of Haris Rauf

Melbourne (Web Desk): The General Manager of Big Bash League (BBL) team Melbourne Stars, Max Abbott, has explained why the franchise is committed to keeping Haris Rauf, saying the fast bowler is a fan-favorite and a vital part of the team.

Speaking to journalists in Melbourne, Abbott said Haris Rauf is not only in excellent form but also serves as an inspiration for other bowlers in the squad. “Both players and fans love him,” he added.

He revealed that even during the BBL draft, they retracted a selection made by the Adelaide Strikers to ensure Haris remained with Melbourne Stars. “He is in the best form of his career right now, and we want him to stay a part of our squad,” Abbott said.

The Stars GM also expressed his excitement about the potential showdown between Haris Rauf and Babar Azam at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), saying, “We are really looking forward to that contest. Haris might even know a few of Babar’s weaknesses, and we hope he performs exceptionally.”

Abbott further highlighted the large Pakistani community in Australia, noting how special it would be for them to see their favorite players competing in the BBL. “It’s a great moment not only for the fans but also for the league itself, as top Pakistani players are now part of the mega event,” he said.

He also acknowledged the growing relationship between the cricket boards of Pakistan and Australia, calling it a positive development. Abbott concluded by stating that the Melbourne Stars aim to carry forward the momentum built during last year’s campaign.
