Three Hindu youths drown in canal near Matiari
Three youths from the Hindu community drowned while performing puja in the Tidri Canal near Matiari, with their bodies later recovered by Rescue 1122 teams and local divers, officials said.
According to rescue officials, the victims were identified as Anil, Kumar and Shawn.
The three youths were performing puja at the canal when they suddenly slipped due to the strong water flow and drowned.
After being informed of the incident, Rescue 1122 teams and local divers reached the site and launched a search operation. Their bodies were recovered after several searches.
A large number of people gathered at the canal after news of the incident spread.
The recovery of the bodies left the victims’ families devastated, while relatives wept and cried inconsolably. An atmosphere of mourning prevailed in the area.
