Hamas Spokesperson Expresses Satisfaction with Pakistan’s Role on Palestine

A spokesperson for Hamas, Dr. Khaled Qaddoumi, has said that the organization is satisfied with Pakistan’s role regarding the Palestinian issue, while also raising concerns about the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza. He made these remarks during a visit to the Karachi Press Club, where he spoke to members of the media and met with the club’s newly elected body.

Upon his arrival at the press club, Dr. Qaddoumi was welcomed by Secretary Aslam Khan, Joint Secretary Farooq Sami, and members of the governing body. During his media interaction, he stated that while a ceasefire had been attempted to halt what he described as a campaign of genocide in Gaza, the mechanisms and structure of the proposed Gaza Peace Board and other related institutions remain unclear.

He alleged that Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement and claimed that innocent Palestinians are being killed in Gaza on a daily basis. He urged Islamic countries that are part of the proposed peace framework to take notice of ceasefire violations and to act in order to stop Israeli attacks.

Referring to a recent United Nations report, Dr. Qaddoumi described its findings as alarming. He claimed that according to the report, certain bombs used in Gaza generate temperatures of up to 3,500 degrees Celsius, leading to severe destruction and loss of life. He suggested that the death toll in Gaza could be significantly higher than previously estimated, expressing fears that the number of Palestinians killed might rise substantially based on updated assessments.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s stance on Palestine has been appreciated by Hamas. According to him, the government of Pakistan’s measures and diplomatic support for Gaza and Palestine are viewed positively. He said that moral and political backing from Pakistan provides encouragement to the الفلسطيني people during a difficult time.

Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Dr. Qaddoumi said that aid deliveries remain far below required levels. Under the agreement, he noted, 600 trucks of humanitarian supplies per day were expected to enter Gaza, but he claimed that only around 50 trucks are being allowed. He described this as grossly insufficient for a population facing shortages of food, clean drinking water, medicine, surgical equipment, and functioning hospitals. He added that there is still not enough international pressure on Israel to fully restore humanitarian access.

Dr. Qaddoumi further stated that while the ceasefire has increased responsibilities for Hamas, there appears to be no effective mechanism to restrain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He questioned the effectiveness of the proposed peace board, particularly when even the United Nations has struggled to enforce meaningful change. He also pointed out that several European and Islamic countries are not part of the peace board initiative.

Welcoming the idea of a Palestinian technocratic committee under the peace agreement, he said such a body could help oversee reconstruction in Gaza and pave the way for elections. However, he alleged that Israel is preventing the committee from entering Gaza. He added that displaced Palestinians are gradually returning, stressing that despite immense suffering, Palestinians would not abandon their homeland.

Earlier, during his meeting with the Karachi Press Club leadership, Secretary Aslam Khan reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people. He stated that Pakistan’s journalistic community has consistently supported what he described as the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people. He emphasized that the Palestinian issue is not merely a regional matter but a humanitarian one, and that speaking out against injustice is a responsibility shared by all conscientious individuals.
