Pretoria: The South African Test team has turned its focus toward improving its ability to play spin bowling as it prepares for the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.

Following an assessment of Pakistan’s spin-heavy squad, the Proteas held a short training camp in Pretoria before departing for Pakistan. During the camp, players devoted significant time to facing spin bowlers and practicing on turning tracks designed to replicate subcontinental conditions.

Captain Aiden Markram said the team’s approach was clear: “When you play at home, you can prepare the kind of pitch you want. I expect conditions in Pakistan to be similar to what we saw in the England series.”

Markram emphasized that tackling Pakistan’s spinners will be crucial to South Africa’s success, noting that the players have shown improvement in reading variations and playing with a soft touch.

Coaching staff have also arranged additional sessions with local spin consultants to help the batters refine their footwork and shot selection. The team is expected to arrive in Pakistan later this week for the much-anticipated series.
