Boy kidnapped at age 2 reunites with parents after 32 years, reveals full story of abduction

Emotional reunion after 32 years between kidnapped son and his parents shared on Geo News’ show ‘Jirga’

In an emotional a man who was kidnapped at the age of 2 was finally reunited with his parents after 32 years. The heartwarming reunion moved viewers to tears.

“I always had one wish in my heart: when will the day come that I get to see my parents?”

Waliullah Maroof, a social worker who helped reunite Asif with his family, explained:
“In such cases, we reach out to victims by posting videos on social media—and that’s how we often succeed.”

At the beginning of the program, Saleem Safi said:
“Today’s episode of ‘Jirga’ is a moment of joy for me, as a kidnapped son is meeting his parents after nearly 32 years. The reunion took place in our office, and we feel honored to witness it.”

Asif’s parents shared that they had originally named him Mohammad Siddiq, but the kidnappers changed it to Mohammad Asif. He was abducted from Bari Imam, and “not a single day passed without remembering our son,” they said. “We kept praying to God for strength and patience.”

Who kidnapped Mohammad Asif, and how?

Asif shared that he was just 2 years old when a woman kidnapped him. She lived with her three brothers and her mother.
“There was another boy there who had been kidnapped two or three years before me. He was like an older brother to me. He told me we had been abducted,” said Asif.

He continued:
“That woman left me with her brothers in a village called Jhanooria near Sargodha and went to Rawalpindi. In Jhanooria, people started saying that we didn’t look like we belonged there and suspected we were kidnapped. Eventually, they left that village.”

Asif said, “We didn’t realize we were kidnapped at the time. But I always felt these people didn’t love us. They used to beat us. We’d hear people say we were abducted.”

He then moved to Tehsil Bhalwal, and eventually, at age 9 or 10, he ran away back to Jhanooria. There, he was taken in by a lawyer who cared for him deeply, enrolled him in school, and raised him like his own.
“I wasn’t very interested in studies, so I learned electrical work. In 2017, I got married and bought my own house with my earnings,” he said.

One day, Asif met a man at a jeweler’s shop, and while chatting, he mentioned he was looking for his real parents. Through this man, he was introduced to social worker Waliullah Maroof, who asked him about his background and identifying features—and ultimately reunited him with his real family.
